WHO:
Letrah is the Exclusive Worldwide Sales and Marketing organization for Superstat
Superstat has been in business providing Superstat for over 20 years with no adverse reactions or complications of use.
WHAT:
Superstat is Unique; it creates hemostasis fast and dissolves completely, leaving NO residue.
Patented, freeze dried, non-cross linked, dissolvable, modified bovine collagen and calcium chloride. The positive charge of these substances creates an electron sink to create homostasis.
Superstat; the Natural, Fast, Safe, Topical Hemostat.
Superstat is classified by the FDA as a device, NOT a drug.
HOW:
Benefits of Superstat:
Interacts Instantly with Blood
No Residue in the Wound Site
No Secondary Bleeding
No Interference with Wound Healing
No Scatter Effect
Easy to Use and Application
No Foreign Body Response
The highly porosity sponge matrix of Superstat provides a large surface area for blood contact.
The added Calcium further accelerates coagulation.
When used according to directions, only a minute quantity of Superstat remains on the tissue after use. This residual Superstat is in turn absorbed by the body with no inhibition of wound healing. The end result is simply a textbook picture of a dry surgical field.
The interaction and hemostasis begins to occur immediately. However, to achieve hemostasis of the bleeding point, it is important to leave the Superstat in place for at least 2 to 3 minutes. The longer the better.
Superstat is indicated where rapid hemostasis is desired for persistent bleeding, either diffused or localized, in almost all incisions, wounds, dissections and as an adjunct to convential closure techniques.
Superstat is ready to use as it comes from the package. Simply wipe off the blood, place Superstat on the bleeding site, cover with an absorbent pad for two or three minutes under light pressure and remove the pad. One application of Superstat is usually sufficient to produce complete hemostasis in mild bleeding. Heavier bleeding may require repeat applications. For best results in cases of profuse bleeding or pumping arterial hemorrhage, conventional techniques of ligation and cautery should be used alone or in combination with Superstat.
WHY:
This patented, exclusive positively charged collagen and increased surface area – due to the freeze-drying and the fact that the entire pad dissolves and leaves no residue are what makes Superstat the Superior Topical Hemostat.
The Amino Acid Side Chains: A collagen fiber is composed of many amino acids in a triple helix. These amino acids in the natural form are very stable. During the patented manufacturing process, increasing numbers of positively charged side chains are exposed.
Calcium: Calcium is an essential catalyst required in several blood clotting reactions. A catalyst is a substance that accelerates a chemical reaction, but is not consumed or changed permanently in the reaction. Since the calcium is not consumed or changed in one reaction, it will be available to catalyze another reaction wherever it is needed. Superstat has enough calcium to accelerate the rates of the blood clotting reactions but not enough to interfere with any chemoreceptor activity.
The fact that calcium has been added to the Superstat is just one more reason why we can claim Superstat works naturally to achieve rapid and effective hemostasis.
Solubility: Superstat is a solvating absorbable “glue”. As shed blood enters the Superstat matrix, the Superstat interacts with blood and melts. Because Superstat rapidly solvates, it catalyzes thrombosis. Most hemostats connot solvate once they are applied. They can only interact with as much blood as they come in contact with. If Superstat were a non-dissolvable hemostat, its ingredients that play key roles in clotting mechanisms would not be able to interact with as many plasma clotting factor molecules. In summary, because Superstat solvates rapidly it can interact with more plasma clotting factors.
Advantages of Superstat:
RAPID ACTION: Because of its high reactivity and large surface area.
EASE OF USE: No preparation of any kind.
ACCURATE APPLICATION: Superstat’s pledget form enables quick, accurate application to the bleeding site with no loose particles to fly around or stick to gloves.
INFINITE VARIETY OF SHAPES: The pledgets can be readily broken, cut or molded into an infinite variety of shapes for easy application to any bleeding site.
THE RAPID DISSOLUTION of superstat in shed blood ensures coverage of even the most irregular bleeding surfaces.
Residual Superstat on the wound site can be left in the wound and will be absorbed by the body with now inhabitation os wound healing.
Superstat is non-pyrogenic, non-antigenic, non-toxic and has no effect on systemic coagulation mechanisms.
Superstat is FASTER, SAFER and BETTER.
Precautions regarding Superstat:
Superstat should not be used in cases of pumping arterial hemorrhage, where blood or other fluids have pooled, or where the bleeding site is submerged. Superstat is not intended for use as a tampon or plug. Superstat does not replace conventional techniques of clamping and ligation for severe bleeding. In more profuse bleeding in which complet ehemostasis is not observed, the wound should be carefully explored and conventional surgical techniques used as required. Superstat is contraindicated in neurosurgical applications because investigations on the effect of Superstat on neurological tissue have not yet been completed. Approval for neurological use is expected upon completion of clinical trials. The effects of the use of Superstat during pregnancy or its potential have not been investigated.
The incidence rate of adhesion formation has not been investigated.
